Back in 2001, I, dendrite, wanted to know the English word for “Gehrock” (which is “frock”). Skimming through my DCE, nemcon suddenly stopped me. There was one word which attracted his attention: clubfungus. He suddenly had loads of ideas what could be done with a brand like that. He saw a huge network, a mycel of artists gathered around a single centre which was the domain “clubfungus”. I didn’t believe a word, because he always had strange ideas. “If you get that domain clubfungus and start working on a project, I will get the e-mail addy dendrite@clubfungus.de and be a part of it.”
As we all know, clubfungus never became a brand, it never grew to be a network of anything, but we still work on it somehow. We play our kind of music, not because we want to achieve anything, but to have a good time ourselves. If anyone out there likes it – even the better!
We enjoy working with friends on new songs, we drift away fantasizing on stories about alien abductions or people get lost in supermarkets, we like trying out new things and in the end get stuck in the old stuff we used to listen to years ago. We take whatever we like from other musical genres and adapt it. Yes, we actually steal what we can grip from bands and artists we really like. But, why not? In the end everybody does and we at least add our very own touch.
And that’s how it works. So, enjoy your visit here and get lost in our
world, which is not simply music, but much larger than most people who know
us from our jobs and rare attendances at local parties might imagine. And
feel free to sign our guestbook, try everything out, get involved. The more
people get involved, the more fun! This is not static, but changing and evolving.
Like us. Enjoy yourself!
